總結:This paper analyzes the Haitian political crisis that occurred in 1991 with the coup d’état against Jean-Bertrand Aristide, which culminated in his return to power by the US military operation “Uphold democracy” in 1994. On the one hand, we discuss the prevailing coloniality of power that presented the crisis in dichotomous terms between liberal democracy or authoritarianism. On the other hand, we note the parallel criticisms that were made of the international community, the United States, the military junta and the elected president, showing how coloniality was answered from within Haiti, in particular by media such as the newspaper Le Nouvelliste.
