| Resumo: | Based on results obtained through a qualitative study, this article presents and analyzes the meanings of voluntary abortion for men and their positions on the process of decision facing an unwanted pregnancy/nintended. The analysis took as analytical categories the perspective of sexual and reproductive rights, and studies on masculinity and gender. It was observed that for males the abortion is neither indifferent nor consider alien and it is considered a signifi cant experience in the life of both men and women. It was found that there is a direct relationship between the meanings of voluntary abortion and views about the right to decide. Males and reproductive practices should be incorporated as protagonists in studies on reproduction and reproductive health. |
