| Sumario: | This paper will discuss the different aspects of the history of the life of a homosexual man from Patamban, Michoacán. His case stands out because he presented himself before the researcher with the petition that she wrote about him. This exceptional situation motivated a series of reflections of methodological order in relation to the history of life as a research technique and what it may mean, for a study subject, to affirm his/her identity as is heard by the researcher. At the beginning of the article, a discussion is presented on the context of the informant; then, a methodological reflection developed. Subsequently, some of the recurrent topics are analyzed and the stages of life highlighted in the account; and finally, it is related what has all meant, for this research, to adapt to unexpected situations.
