Summary:Women are inserting in the social and sexual orders through the body and its reproductive dimensions. The menstruation and menarche play an important role in this process and their meanings have important implications in the perceptions that women have about their bodies as well as the reproduction and sexuality. This article aims to present the findings of a qualitative research carry on in two regions of the state of Morelos, Mexico. The results suggest that menstruation and menarche social regulations are a central part of the embodied experience of women’s lives and they also are key elements in the learning trajectories about being a woman in societies of highly conditioned by gender inequalities.
