The review highlights: a) the potential for critical re-readings of intellectual traditions, in particular the one Brown proposes on Weber; b) the possibility of counter-hegemonic readings of the canon, in terms of reading Weber from the interpretative framework of nihilism, according to the author; and, c) the program of critical pedagogy with and against Weber that emerges from the book. |

Este ensayo constituye una revisión contemporánea de los textos “La ciencia como vocación” y “La política como vocación” del sociológo alemán Max Weber. La reseña destaca: a) el potencial de relecturas críticas de las tradiciones intelectuales, en particular la que propone Brown sobre Weber; b) la posibilidad de lecturas contra-hegemónicas del canon, a propósito de leer a Weber desde el marco interpretativo del nihilismo, según la autora; y, c) el programa de pedagogía crítica con y contra Weber que se desprende del libro.
