Description
Summary:The article is based on the self-assessment of Brazilian transportation platform workers (TPTs). It combines methodologies with both quantitative and qualitative approaches, drawing on microdata from the “Platform Workers” module of the PNAD-C (Brazil) and 22 interviews with drivers and 21 with delivery workers (bicycle and motorcycle) conducted in Rio de Janeiro between October 2023 and March 2024. We explore the contrast between regulated work and platform-based work. While there are significant nuances, we conclude that TPTs generally express a relative satisfaction with their work, particularly in terms of their perceived autonomy in organizing work schedules and the absence of direct subordination.
