Description
Résumé:In recent years, protests by digital platform delivery workers have multiplied worldwide. However, studies explaining the uneven evolution of these mobilizations across different national contexts remain scarce. This article compares the protest activity of platform delivery workers in Argentina and Chile between 2018 and 2023. It argues that the focus on working conditions or the strategic decisions of worker organizations—often used to analyze the emergence of collective action in this economic sector—is insufficient on its own to explain the differences observed between the two countries. Examining the industrial relations system is crucial for understanding these workers’ and their organizations’ decisions regarding the continuation of mobilization after the COVID-19 pandemic.
