| description | This text aims to discuss the implications of a "change of regime" based on a minimal review of the existing versions in the public debate and the modifications that have taken place following the third alternation of presidential power in 2018. Considering the panorama of the Mexican democratization process and with the upcoming 2024 elections as the proximate scenario, it is posited that democracy is an effective reality, albeit in the process of erosion, and that the aspects that, according to the current government, have changed, have not done so in the expected direction. This poses the challenge of ratifying the validity of the democratic regime at the ballot box and the necessity for plurality to be expressed in such a way that allows for the effective functioning of constitutional controls on the executive power. |

Este texto se propone discutir lo que implica el “cambio de régimen” a partir de una revisión mínima de las versiones existentes en el debate público y de lo que se ha modificado a raíz de la tercera alternancia en el poder presidencial en 2018. A la luz del panorama del proceso democratizador mexicano y teniendo como escenario próximo los comicios de 2024, se plantea que la democracia es una realidad efectiva, aunque en proceso de erosión, y que los aspectos que, de acuerdo con el gobierno actual, han cambiado, no lo han hecho en el sentido esperado. Esto plantea el reto de ratificar en las urnas la vigencia del régimen democrático y la necesidad de que la pluralidad se exprese de modo tal que permita el funcionamiento efectivo de los controles constitucionales al poder ejecutivo.
