| Résumé: | Since 2018, the Mexican political system has undergone a profound transformation at both the national and subnational levels. This article focuses on the latter, examining whether MORENA's advancement in controlling governorships has generated a change in the political elites of the states. Utilizing an original database of MORENA's gubernatorial candidacies between 2018 and 2023, the study analyzes the personal qualities (gender, age, education), party trajectory, and public office experience of those who occupied these positions. The study concludes that the representatives of MORENA in these contests (who, in most cases, obtained a victory) do not possess characteristics that significantly differ from the representatives of the parties that previously dominated the political landscape.
