| description | In this research note I focus on building a theoretical and methodological framework to analyze the relationship between representation, gender and ethnicity/racialization in various audiovisual products in Mexico from the period between 1980 and 2020, with the aim of articulating notions that allow me to get closer to the new filmmakers who are producing audiovisuals about racialized or ethnicized populations, I am particularly interested in analyzing how non-white women are represented: indigenous, black-Afro-Mexican and mestizo. This writing is part of a broader research on cultural studies, gender and critical studies of race in Mexico that seeks to think about racialized and ethnic identities from the ways in which they are represented in products of what has been called “culture popular” such as the soap opera, the cinema or in recent years the format of series broadcast via streaming. |

En esta nota de investigación me centro en construir un marco teórico y metodológico para analizar la relación entre representación, género y etnicidad/racialización en diversos productos audiovisuales en el México del periodo comprendido entre 1980 y 2020, con el objetivo de articular nociones que me permitan acercarme a las nuevas realizadoras que se encuentran produciendo audiovisuales sobre poblaciones racializadas o etnizadas, particularmente me interesa analizar cómo son represen-tadas las mujeres no blancas: indígenas, negras-afromexicanas y mestizas. Este escrito es parte de una pesquisa más amplia sobre estudios culturales, género y estudios críticos de la raza en México que busca pensar las identidades racializadas y étnicas a partir de las formas en las cuales son representadas en productos de lo que se ha llamado “cultura popular” como la telenovela, el cine o en los últimos años el formato de las series emitidas vía streaming.
