| Resumo: | In his book Privilege at Play, Hugo Cerón Anaya explores the diversified nature of power though his study of golf in Mexico. The book’s central objective is to highlight the structural embeddedness of notions of privilege eve in the most mundane practices, to explain how underlying racial, gender and class dynamics influence social hierarchies in contemporary Mexico. This review focusses on two of the book’s main contributions with regard to the study of inequalities: deepening our understanding of privilege and its multidimensionality, and theorizing the racialization of class in Mexico. Both discussions are central to improve our understanding of the country’s persistent inequality. |
