Description
Résumé:The paper analyzes the dynamics that are established between feeling rules corresponding to two different romantic imaginaries, the romantic and the post-romantic, that guide romantic and sexual relationships among young people in the city of Guadalajara, Mexico. Their intimate experiences occur in a context of accelerated social change where new values and meanings define new rules that coexist with previous ones based on different principles. This produces conflicts between their discourses and their practices, both within themselves and among young people and their loving partners. The analysis is organized around two areas: love relationships and sexuality, in which current romantic feeling rules and post-romantic rules are negotiated and even have some contradictions, which are still incipient but whose presence is undeniable in this particular age group.
