Description
Résumé:The article analyzes the processes of political hierarchy in Argentina, focusing particularly on the local level. For this purpose, it uses socio-graphic data and interviews of the municipal legislative representatives of two cities: Buenos Aires and Santa Fe. Based on a comparative perspective, we reflect on three constitutive dimensions of social and political hierarchies: social, institutional and individual. We argue that social characteristics delimit a relatively homogeneous group, with high educational and professional credentials. Likewise, the passage through certain institutional spaces, such as the University or the partisan institutions of the neighborhood, constitute the privileged way of access to political work, allowing admission to advisory and partisan positions. Once this happens, the individual work of building a militant merit allows the construction of a successful career, occupying different positions of government.
