| description | This article examines the topic of the constitutional changes regulating the presidential re-election in Latin America. The main objective of the present work is to develop a characterization of the cases that have taken place according to the type of re-election reform outcome and the decision process preceding it. This approach is intended to clarify the routes followed in achieving a certain constitutional result and shed light on the factors that shape this new political trend in Latin America. |

Este artículo analiza el tema de las modifi caciones constitucionales de la reelección presidencial en América Latina. Propone algunos segmentos históricos de cambio y se centra principalmente en la denominada “Ola Reeleccionista” del siglo XXI. El objetivo del trabajo es desarrollar una caracterización de los casos según el tipo de reelección que se aprueba y el proceso decisorio que se desarrolla en cada caso. Este abordaje pretende identifi car las pautas seguidas en la consecución del resultado de la reforma constitucional y arrojar luces sobre los posibles factores que permiten marcar la nueva tendencia reeleccionista en la región latinoamericana.
