Se analizan las principales fuentes de crecimiento de la productividad total de los factores (PTF) de la industria regional en México mediante un modelo de frontera estocástica e ineficiencia técnica a la Battese y Coelli (1992, 1995), aplicando el método de descomposición de la PTF propuesto por Nishimizu y Page (1982) y Kumbhakar, Denny y Fuss (2000). Los resultados muestran que el cambio tecnológico y el cambio en la eficiencia técnica son las dos principales fuentes que explican las tendencias observadas en las tasas de cambio de la PTF regional de México entre 1960 y 2013.
