| description | We analyze the dynamics of non-drastic patents lasting for several periods when its owner is asymmetrically informed in relation to their users. Patentees learn -by using the patent- their cost characteristics, and there is symmetric information among them. In this setting, we show that the trade off between the sampling effect and the dissipation effect determines the patent efficient allocation from the market viewpoint. We also show that the incentive compatibility problem in some contracts -those ones which are based on the users' information- precludes sometimes the patent owner to implement efficient allocations. Finally, it is shown that, from the social viewpoint, a duopoly in each production period is the optimal market structure to be generated. |

Se analiza la dinámica de las patentes no drásticas que duran varios períodos cuando, sobre su valor, se genera información asimétrica entre su propietario y las empresas que las ponen en práctica, siendo, sin embargo, simétrica entre los propios usuarios. Mostramos como el conflicto entre el efecto muestreo y el de disipación define las asignaciones eficientes para la industria; y como el problema de incentivos en los contratos que dependen de información obtenida por las empresas, y que el propietario de la patente no posee, impide instrumentar a veces asignaciones que, de otra forma, serian eficientes. También se muestra que, desde el punto de vista social, generar un duopolio en cada periodo de producción configura la asignación óptima.
