El presente trabajo discute aspectos relacionados con la elaboración de modelos insumo-producto en el área regional. La metodología adoptada comprende la conversión de una tabla nacional a una regional, mediante el uso de técnicas de estimación. La fuente de datos es el empleo y la matriz nacional de 1993. El uso de la matriz resultante se basa en el impacto de vinculación entre los sectores económicos, destacando, entre otros, industrias básicas del hierro y acero y servicios financieros. Sin embargo, la estructura propuesta junto con el análisis de impacto sólo pueden ser vistos como una primer etapa de una herramienta más realista.
