總結:During the 1980's it was usual to find statements in the specialized bibliography related to the fact that self-employment was less well-paid than salaried labour. However, today there are new conditions in labour market dynamics that question such a statement. Different case studies reveal that self-employment might offer better remunerative options; still, the corroboration at a macro level of this phenomenon is insufficient. This paper intends to be a contribution to that macro level corroboration as we learned that in Mexico City, during 1989, non-salaried labour in some small establishments offered better remuneration than the salaried one, although this possibility did exist only insofar as men were concerned, as women showed the worst remunerative condition in self-employment.
