| description | This study identifies the regions of Chile that produce goods, both for the domestic market and for export, after a decade and a half of the implementation of a new development model. It examines the different degrees to which the regional markets opened and their unequal contribution to international trade.The regional "specialization" is contrasted with the divergent territorial distribution of investments in goods and service industries; these, especially those oriented toward exports, have become important sources of differentiation -indeed, discrimination- among regions.The export or domestic specialization of the region presents markedly different regional vulnerabilities with respect to the fluctuations of the market -local and international- and with respect to macroeconomic and international trade policies. |

Este estudio identifica las regiones productoras de bienes, de exportación y domésticas de Chile, precisando los distintos grados de apertura de las economías regionales y su desigual contribución al comercio exterior luego de su década y media de implementación del nuevo modelo de desarrollo.Esta “especialización” regional es contrastada con la orientación territorial divergente de las inversiones en los sectores productores de bienes y de los servicios, demostrándose que estos últimos, y más aún las exportaciones, se constituyen en importantes factores de diferenciación —si no de discriminación— entre las regiones.La especialización exportadora o doméstica acusa una muy distinta vulnerabilidad regional frente a las fluctuaciones de los mercados locales y mundiales, ante los impactos de las políticas macroeconómicas y de comercio exterior.
