Description
Summary:In this article, the first analysis is concerned with the changes that have occurred in work in the case of women and the determining factors of such changes during the years of economic recession in the 1980s. The information comes from some of the major fertility surveys carried out during that period. Emphasis is placed on the increase observed in the economic participation of older married women with children, and in the modifications that this entails for the known relations between fertility and work. In a second part of the paper, the authors explore the different ways in which women possibly experience these changes and the expected impact on their status of subordination. In this case, we are not concerned with research findings, but rather with a bibliographical review and theoretical-methodological proposals about the best way of approaching this important object of study.
