Hace un siglo el Angelus Novus de Paul Klee ya nos advertía, según Walter Benjamin, que la modernidad no era más que una catástrofe que incasablemente acumula ruina sobre ruina. Cien años después, esa advertencia amenaza las posibilidades del presente por convertirse en futuro. En medio de ello la humanidad está hoy quizás más indefensa y vulnerable que nunca. Lo que los siglos han construido nos muestra la más cruda de sus facetas: la sociedad intenta infructuosamente reaccionar mediante conceptos vacíos y prácticas incapaces de estar a la altura de la tarea histórica; la única luz que guía el camino hacia al futuro parece ser el fuego de nuestra propia destrucción.
