Description
Résumé:The main question guiding this text is as follows: How have population studies in Mexico dealt with the joint treatment of quantitative and qualitative information? Al-though it is a well-known fact that from the outset, demography has been guided by an eminently quantitativist perspective, it can also be argued that at certain times or with certain issues, a variety of research projects has sought to include tools clearly identified with qualitative approaches. Since El Colegio de México’s Estudios Demográficos y Urbanos journal has pioneered the publication of specialized texts in these areas, this paper contains a review of all its volumes (from 1986, when it first appeared under that name until 2013). The main purpose is to explore how different methodologies have been combined in the research presented in the articles in the CEDUA journal.
