Resumo: | Several methods of information assessment and demographic analysis were used in this study to examine the behavior of two population series in 19th century Mexico City, drawn from the skeletal remains exhumed in the Panteón de Santa Paula and the records from the Parroquia de Santa María.The results, showing differences between all the analyses, were subsequently used to construct two demographic scenarios, since historical demography yields more results than paleodemography, which also leads to certain differences in the calculations of mortality. These differences are due to the unequal distributions of age at death, which effectively refutes the idea of complementing the demographic study of earlier populations through the combination of these disciplines.
