| description | This article examines the well-known link between work and family beginning with a relatively unexplored platform: the diachronic perspective that describes processes over time. This problem falls within the theoretical-methodological approach known as the course of life and basically uses one of the tools utilized in this perspective: the trajectory. The main objective is therefore to analyze the link between some of the main life trajectories (school, work, marriage and child- bearing) in shaping the course of life of a group of women from the middle class sectors in Mexico City. Within this process, particular attention is paid to the work trajectory in order to use it as an axis and analyze its interrelationship with the others and ascertain under what circumstances it acquires pre-eminence. Finally, by combining the links between the life trajectories considered, the author proposes a typology in order to describe the different forms acquired by the family-work dyad and thereby identify both the shared characteristics and the existing differences within an apparently highly similar universe, thereby rejecting the assumption of homogeneity based on class, gender and stage in the life cycle. |

En este artículo se aborda la conocida vinculación entre trabajo y familia partiendo de una plataforma relativamente poco explorada: la perspectiva diacrónica que da cuenta de procesos a lo largo del tiempo. Esta problemática se inscribe en el enfoque teórico-metodológico conocido como curso de vida y utiliza básicamente una de las herramientas que esta perspectiva maneja: la de trayectoria. Así, el objetivo central es analizar el entrelazamiento de algunas de las trayectorias vitales fundamentales (escolar, laboral, conyugal y reproductiva) en la conformación del curso de vida de un grupo de mujeres de los sectores medios de la Ciudad de México. En este proceso se pone especial atención a la trayectoria laboral con la finalidad de tomarla como eje y analizar sus interrelaciones con las otras y determinar bajo qué circunstancias adquiere preeminencia. Finalmente, conjuntando precisamente el entrelazamiento de las trayectorias vitales consideradas, se propone una tipología con la intención de dar cuenta de las diferentes modalidades que adquiere la díada familia-trabajo y así poder identificar tanto las características comunes como las diferencias existentes al interior de un universo aparentemente muy similar, rechazando de esta manera el supuesto de la homogeneidad por clase, género y etapa de ciclo vital.
