El objetivo del artículo es identificar los patrones de movilidad geográfica diaria de los habitantes del Área Metropolitana de Monterrey (AMM) y particularmente, desde la perspectiva de la segregación urbana, analizar si existe un acceso geográfico desigual de la población a la ciudad, esto es, una articulación diferenciada en términos de la distancia geográfica, el tiempo de desplazamiento y el índice de movilidad, de acuerdo con el nivel de ingreso de los habitantes de la ciudad. La información básica para desarrollar el trabajo consiste en una base de datos sobre transportación intrametropolitana de la población, recopilada mediante la Encuesta Origen y Destino 1991 del AMM.
