Description
Résumé:The principal aim of this study is to identify the emotions related to work and family trajectories of men in an unemployment status (ongoing or in a recent period), using an ethnographic approach. Fourteen men, between 21 and 46 years old, married, and with at least one child, residents of the metropolitan area of Guadalajara, Mexico, were interviewed. The vocabulary / emotional repertoire identified is broad. Men enunciated emotions recognized with specific labels, as well as to metaphors and narratives that allude to emotional contents. Certain emotions are prevalent in the area of family relationships, others are related to (un)employment, some are shared in both relational spaces. Men and emotions represent challenges and opportunities for the analysis of masculinities.
