Through a qualitative approach, 27 interviews and three focus groups were carried out for women who work in paid jobs in Chile. As a result of the study, we found different ways of expressing and resolving the tensions of the family-work conflict by social group, practices that, however, are framed in contradictory discourses that partly reproduce and partly question the traditional gender order. |

Este artículo analiza las percepciones y experiencias de mujeres trabajadoras de distintas ocupaciones pertenecientes a grupos medios, obreros y populares, respecto de las limitantes, tensiones y estrategias en el ingreso y permanencia en el mercado de trabajo. Mediante un acercamiento cualitativo, se llevaron a cabo 27 entrevistas y tres grupos de discusión a mujeres que trabajan remuneradamente en grandes ciudades de Chile. Como resultado del estudio encontramos distintas formas de expresar y resolver las tensiones del conflicto familia-trabajo por grupo social, prácticas que, sin embargo, se enmarcan en discursos contradictorios que en parte reproducen y en parte cuestionan el orden de género tradicional.
