| Sumario: | This article describes the theoretical and methodological process undertaken to incorporate 44 biographies of Panamanian female scientists in Wikipedia. The theoretical inquiry aimed to address two key questions: the dynamics, implications, and gender-related constraints within Wikipedia, and how to successfully include the biographies. The methodology involved a diagnosis confirming the limited representation of Panamanian female scientists, as well as a literature review and interviews with key informants to design an editing marathon (“Edit-a-thon”). The results reveal that the limited representation of female scientists on Wikipedia is generally attributed to gender inequities in science participation, structural constraints determining access, the use and appropriation of information technologies, and Wikipedia's own policies and dynamics. Documenting our intervention experience on Wikipedia may be useful for similar initiatives in other contexts.
