| description | This study examines some negotiations of meaning and cultural resonance between two distant literary contexts: medieval India and His panic poetry. Translating this Sanskrit text presents significant challenges, particularly in maintaining its brevity while conveying the aesthetic categories intrinsic to its original cultural context. However, medieval Hispanic lyric poetry may serve as the missing link to bridge these two literary traditions. |

Este trabajo analiza algunas negociaciones de significado y resonancia cultural entre dos contextos literarios distantes: la India medieval y la poesía hispánica. Como caso de estudio, se toman los poemas breves sobre la “heroína que sale para una cita” (abhisārikā nāyikā) en la obra Rasamañjarī del poeta indio Bhānudatta (siglo XVI). La traducción de este texto sánscrito, sin equivalentes exactos en la literatura hispánica, plantea desafíos, sobre todo al intentar conservar la brevedad y transmitir categorías estéticas propias de la cultura de origen. Sin embargo, la antigua lírica popular hispánica puede funcionar como el eslabón perdido para conectar estos dos mundos.
