The study mainly uses primary and journalistic sources that inform the public debate to present the arguments of each of the actors involved and to analyze their premises. Although a verdict on the safety of the discharge of treated water into the sea is beyond the scope of this article, the conclusion leads to considering political, economic, and other risks that will accompany the process until its end. |

El presente documento pretende aportar una explicación a las problemáticas y los conflictos alrededor del agua tratada de la planta nuclear de Fukushima núm. 1 y de su descarga al mar, en particular en el periodo de agosto de 2023 a marzo de 2024. El estudio emplea principalmente fuentes primarias y periodísticas que informan acerca del debate público para presentar los argumentos de cada uno de los actores involucrados y analizar sus premisas. Si bien un juicio sobre la seguridad respecto al medioambiente que comporta la descarga de agua tratada al mar queda fuera del alcance del estudio, la conclusión conduce a considerar los riesgos políticos, económicos y de diversa índole que acompañarán el proceso hasta el final.
