A pesar de su escaso conocimiento en América Latina, la guerra ruso-japonesa tuvo un considerable efecto en el resto del mundo, principalmente en Asia y especialmente en el mundo político-intelectual; dicho efecto consiste en que Japón se consolidó como un punto de atracción que sirvió para reafirmar ideas comunes, surgidas en sociedades distintas y elaboradas sobre la base de que Occidente no era invencible. Este estudio se hizo gracias a la tesis del pensamiento periférico.
