| Résumé: | The long standing conflict in Congo and its increasing internationalization are caused by the international criminalization of the state, as well as the ambitions of the foreign firms and governments for the outstanding amount of strategic minerals in the region. For this double structure to operate, it requires the indulgence and blindness of the international community with regard to the rights of children. By ignoring these rights, the governments and firms implicated in the war are able to conscript children who leave school as soldiers or miners inside the troops of governments, rebels or local militia. The present work sheds light on the problem of children’s rights in Congo and proposes that the solution is the reinforcement of the rule of law in this country of the African Great Lakes region.
