Description
Résumé:This paper provides a description of the morphophonological processes of the segmental level in the Mixtec of San Jerónimo de Xayacatlán. Consonantal and vowel alternations in verbs are approached from a diachronic and synchronic perspective to explain how fossilization and minimality accounts for allomorphy. Realizational morphology explains how mood-aspect and person features are manifested as phonological alterations in minimal word boundary. The refined dual-route approach determines computation and solves analytic underdetermination problems that persist in descriptions. The minimal word is proposed as a morphophonological entity and domain. The conclusions of this work are intended to establish a tradition of studies on the morphophonology regarding this dialect, as well as all the other Mix-tec languages.
