When questioning Mexico’s interests and expected benefits, it is argued that in 2010-2018, there was congruence between the position of the Mexican governments and the construction of the mechanism. In 2018 2024, the deterioration of the international context led the Alliance to multiply initiatives to diversify and consolidate its economic relations, while its internal dynamics changed little, leading to an institutional blockage. We argue that the disinterest of the Mexican government played an important role in this outcome, a product of both new regional priorities and disillusionment with the economic results of the mechanism. |

El texto analiza la relación de México con la Alianza del Pacífico (2018-2024), un mecanismo de integración regional liberal con proyección hacia Asia-Pacífico que combina variables institucionales, políticas y económicas. Al preguntarse acerca de los intereses de México y los beneficios esperados, se plantea que en 2010-2018 hubo congruencia entre la postura de los gobiernos mexicanos y la construcción del mecanismo. En 2018-2024, frente el deterioro del contexto internacional, la Alianza multiplicó iniciativas para diversificar y concretar sus relaciones económicas, mientras su dinámica interna se alteraba poco, hasta llegar al bloqueo institucional. Planteamos que el desinterés del gobierno mexicano desempeñó un papel importante en este resultado, producto tanto de nuevas prioridades regionales como del desencanto con los resultados económicos del mecanismo.
