| Sumario: | This article provides a concise overview of key events that occurred in Timor-Leste between 2022 and September 2023, divided into three main areas: national politics, economics, and international politics. On the domestic front, it highlights the 2022 and 2023 presidential and legislative elections, along with relevant debates and developments on social, cultural, judicial, and economic issues. In regard to the economy, this article focuses on the government’s struggle to approve budgets and tackle inflationary issues within a context of insufficient oil revenues. It also highlights the growing impact of internal (rural-urban) and international migration. As for international politics, the focus is on Timor-Leste’s admission as an observer member of ASEAN, as well as on diplomatic relations with Asian nations, countries within the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), and the Vatican. Additionally, the conclusion of the Australian trial against Bernard Collaery is mentioned as a point of legal interest.
