| Résumé: | The article begins by questioning the increasingly frequent discourse on the postpandemic period, to draw attention to the continued and graver effects of Covid in terms of loss of life. The author proposes to study the pandemic’s evolution in Korea, establishing two distinct phases: during the first, the main indicator is the number of infections in the context of a health policy aimed at containing the virus. The second phase would be characterized by the availability and application of vaccines against Covid-19; in this regard, the main indicators are the number of deaths and the mortality rate. Based on this differentiation, the author argues that, given the high number of deaths recorded during 2022, the pandemic is not yet over. Based on these criteria, the text analyzes the changes in the Korean political system, marked by the alternation and apparent consolidation of Korea’s two-party system. It also studies the domestic and international performance of the Korean economy, highlighting the boom in service sectors to the detriment of manufacturing of tangible goods, and highlighting the changes in foreign demand favorable to North America compared to the Asia-Pacific. Finally, the article notes the changes in intergovernmental relations within East Asia, as the North Korean government reactivated its missile-testing program throughout 2022.
