| Sumario: | This paper will analyze the main developments in Thailand this year and outline three possible scenarios for the 2023 general elections. Thailand’s ever-interesting politics continues to be a constant tug-of-war between the government of Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha, the pro-democracy opposition parties, and Prayuth’s detractors within his own political camp. This political tension, coupled with the recovery of the Thai economy after two and a half years of closed borders, opens up many possibilities for next year's elections. By analyzing Thailand’s relations with its ASEAN neighbors, China, and the United States, it is possible to understand the country’s positioning on the global geopolitical chessboard and its strategic role in Southeast Asia.
