“…This essay seeks to analyze the possibilities  and conditions offered by Mexico to the Jewish immigration during  the late 19th and early 20th  centuries, decades that coincide with an important trend of Jewish migration  from Europe  and the Middle East towards America. In this sense, the paper analyzes the transition of the Mexican immigration  policy and certain governmental posi-tions: from being a liberal, open doors policy –which not only did not limit, but even encouraged  Jewish immigration, among others– to a closed doors policy which, during the 1930’s, entailed a marked attitude  of rejection towards the entrance to the country of a large number of ethnical, religious and national groups, including the Jews.…”
