Description
Summary:García Lorca’s literary productivity was almost constant over the period 1916-1936. However, during the first half of 1929 we encounter a strange hiatus, during which he wrote almost nothing new. This study seeks to document the months January-June 1929 and explore the evidence concerning this strange pause. Much has been written about the depression into which Lorca fell during the summer of 1928, but a lot less about its continuation into 1929. Piecing together various sources we can understand the downward spiral in which Lorca found himself and how the plan to visit the United States coalesced.
