El Diccionario de la ciencia y de la técnica del Renacimiento (DICTER) registra el léxico científico-técnico contenido en textos de esta temática de los siglos xvi y xvii. En él hay un léxico denominador de herramientas que destaca por el modo como se trata en los textos. Su examen revela que la presentación de estas herramientas sigue tres procedimientos: enumeración, explicación e ilustración, los cuales están determinados por el carácter teórico –científico– o práctico –técnico– de la obra u obras que las registran y por la tradición discursiva en que la elaboración de éstas se inserta.
