總結:This article addresses the damage caused by plagues of locusts and adverse weather in the state of Oaxaca between 1880 and 1888. Based on a thorough analysis of all the monthly communiqués from the political chiefs of the district that are available in the General Archive of the State of Oaxaca, documents on the anti-locust commission, a report from a governor and a commissioner and contemporary newspapers, it analyzes the conditions that permitted the emergence, spread and permanence of locusts for a period of eight years. It examines the strategies undertaken by the authorities and the population to eradicate these insects and explores how the effects of weather and pests affected the food supply in different parts of Oaxaca at a time in which inhabitants suffered continuous waves of disease.
