總結:During the colonial era, Franciscans engaged in evangelization, indoctrination and the administration of sacraments throughout New Spain. As part of this lengthy process, they built a series of convents, temples and chapels to meet the religious needs of the towns under their care. Based on an analysis of Franciscan chronicles, archival manuscripts, specialized literature and material remains, this article proposes five stages for the establishment and use of the religious buildings administered by the Franciscan order in the province of San Pedro y San Pablo de Michoacán during the colonial era: 1) Incursion and Penetration, 2) Expansion, 3) Reconstruction, 4) Development, and Improvement and 5) Secularization and New Missions.
