| description | On November 10th, 1975, the UN General Assembly approved Resolution 3379, which defined Zionism as a form of racism. As a response to Mexico’s vote in support of the resolution, U.S. Jews declared a tourist boycott of Mexico. Based on abundant documentation from institutional and governmental archives in Mexico, Israel and the United States, this article describes the tourist boycott that followed the vote, showing its popular origins and explaining its adoption by U.S. Jewish leaders. This article also studies the Mexican government’s reaction to the boycott, specifically in its relations with the Mexican and U.S. Jewish communities, and explains how the boycott ended. |

El 10 de noviembre de 1975, en la Asamblea General de la onu se aprobó la Resolución 3379, que definió al sionismo como una forma de racismo. México votó a favor y a raíz del voto mexicano, los judíos de Estados Unidos declararon un boicot turístico a México. Con base en abundante documentación de archivos gubernamentales e institucionales de México, Estados Unidos e Israel, este artículo describe el boicot turístico que desató el voto, demuestra su origen popular y expone su adopción por el liderazgo judío de Estados Unidos. Estudia asimismo la reacción del gobierno mexicano frente al boicot, específicamente en su relación con las comunidades judías mexicana y estadounidense, y explica cómo cesó el boicot.
