| description | This article analyzes Andrés Iduarte Foucher’s autobiographical narrative Un niño en la Revolución Mexicana from a pragmatic perspective. It’s argued that Iduarte associated his own biography with the history of his country with the goal of communicating his feeling of belonging to the Mexican nation. It also shows how the publication history of Un niño en la Revolución Mexicana reflected the political changes in post-revolutionary Tabasco. Apart from this, it shows how Iduarte confesses his Porfirista past in Un niño en la Revolución Mexicana and how he narrates his subsequent transformation into a man of the revolution. Finally, it argues that historiographic research should make greater use of autobiographical sources, which are still relatively ignored. |

Apart from this, it shows how Iduarte confesses his Porfirista past in Un niño en la Revolución Mexicana and how he narrates his subsequent transformation into a man of the revolution. Finally, it argues that historiographic research should make greater use of autobiographical sources, which are still relatively ignored. En este ensayo se analiza la narración autobiográfica Un niño en la Revolución Mexicana de Andrés Iduarte Foucher desde una perspectiva pragmática del texto. Se argumenta que Iduarte asoció su propia biografía con la historia de su patria a fin de comunicar su pertenencia a la nación mexicana. Se muestra además que la historia de la publicación de Un niño en la Revolución Mexicana refleja los cambios políticos de poder en el Tabasco posrevolucionario. Aparte de esto, se sostiene que Iduarte confiesa en Un niño en la Revolución Mexicana su pasado porfirista y narra su transformación sucesiva en un hombre revolucionario. Finalmente, se aboga por extender la investigación historiográfica al todavía poco utilizado fondo de fuentes autobiográficas.
