Description
Summary:This article analyzes Andrés Iduarte Foucher’s autobiographical narrative Un niño en la Revolución Mexicana from a pragmatic perspective. It’s argued that Iduarte associated his own biography with the history of his country with the goal of communicating his feeling of belonging to the Mexican nation. It also shows how the publication history of Un niño en la Revolución Mexicana reflected the political changes in post-revolutionary Tabasco. Apart from this, it shows how Iduarte confesses his Porfirista past in Un niño en la Revolución Mexicana and how he narrates his subsequent transformation into a man of the revolution. Finally, it argues that historiographic research should make greater use of autobiographical sources, which are still relatively ignored.
