Some preferred to leave Mexico, but others transformed their former loyalty to the Spanish Crown to help take forward the nascent nation. However, whenever they had a chance, they found a way to show off those traits, which placed them at the top of the ancient society and expatiated their distinction in rituals and ceremonies.
