Este trabajo se centra en el estudio de la familia Rodríguez de Figueroa entre los años 1574 (fecha del paso a Indias del primero de sus miembros de que se conserva constancia) y 1670 (sentencia en el pleito por los derechos al mayorazgo instituido por Álvaro Rodríguez de Figueroa). A lo largo de estos años se siguen las trayectorias personales de los más destacados miembros de esta familia y, a través de ellas, se estudia el proceso de creación de redes familiares y sociales en el Nuevo Mundo, así como su importancia en la conquista y organización de la sociedad española en Filipinas. Este trabajo se ha realizado a partir de fuentes documentales inéditas procedentes de diversos archivos españoles y del Archivo General de la Nación (México).
