| description | In the Michoacan rural society of the thirties, agrarian political mediators, such as Juan Gutiérrez Flores in the Zamora Valley, were visible heads among peasants that greatly relied on them to obtain different goods and public services; but they also helped the State implement some of its policies, such as agrarian and educational ones, through which it sought to strengthen its hegemony, winning the loyalty of agrarian peasants and overcoming the resistance of social sectors close to the clergy. This work claims that by exploring the way in which Gutiérrez Flores built his regional power and carried out bis mediating functions, it is possible to approach a moment of the centralization process in Cardenas' postrevolutionary State. |

En la sociedad rural michoacana de los años treinta, intermediarios políticos de extracción agrarista, como Juan Gutiérrez Flores en el Bajío zamorano, eran las cabezas visibles de un campesinado que se apoyaba en ellos para acceder a diferentes bienes y servicios públicos, pero también eran actores que auxiliaban al Estado en la aplicación de varias políticas -como la agraria y la educativa- mediante las cuales trataba de consolidar su hegemonía, ganar la lealtad del campesinado agrarista y vencer la resistencia de sectores sociales cercanos al clero. Aquí se postula que explorar la manera en que Gutiérrez Flores construyó su poder regional y ejerció sus funciones de mediación, es aproximarse al modo en que discurre uno de los momentos del proceso de centralización del estado posrevolucionario cardenista.
