| Summary: | Regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict, Mexico has pursued a policy of equidistance, at least since the beginning of this century. For several years, Mexican presidents have refrained from openly denouncing Israel’s disproportionate use of force, while referring to it as a response to the violence perpetrated by Palestinians. In bureaucratic circles, it is also not uncommon for press releases from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be cautious when it comes to pointing out Israel’s responsibilities. The wording of these statements clearly reflects the intention to maintain equidistance. The statement following the events of October 7 reaffirms this tendency.
