Additionally, their matrix of needs and satisfiers is characterized as both attractive and thought-provoking, though insufficiently developed. In particular, the distinction between satisfiers and goods proves functional only when the satisfier is a human activity. Furthermore, it is noted that when goods become ends in themselves, the supposed satisfaction of needs hinders the ability to fully experience them, leading to an alienated society. The authors’ typology of satisfiers is also outlined, and a comparison is made between their framework of needs and eight other theoretical models. |

Este trabajo tiene como propósito valorar críticamente las contribuciones de Max-Neef et al. a las teorías relacionadas con las necesidades humanas. En primer lugar, se describen quince postulados propuestos por los autores, destacándose como principales aportes la definición de necesidades, satisfactores y bienes, así como sus ritmos de cambio. Además, se califica su matriz de necesidades y satisfactores como atractiva y sugerente, aunque insuficientemente elaborada; en particular, la distinción entre satisfactores y bienes resulta funcional únicamente cuando el satisfactor es una actividad humana. Por otra parte, se señala que, cuando los bienes se convierten en fines en sí mismos, la supuesta satisfacción de necesidades obstaculiza las posibilidades de vivirlas plenamente, lo que da lugar a una sociedad alienada. Asimismo, se describe su tipología de satisfactores y se realiza una comparación entre su esquema de necesidades y otros ocho modelos teóricos.
